"The Drama and Its Similarities to the Original Work
The drama largely retains the original settings and storyline. As a genre piece focused on exorcism, its depiction is neither excessively frightening nor as violent as the original.
Changes in Character Settings
Several character settings were altered, including the protagonist So Mun and others. For example, Son Cheol-jung’s name was changed to Jang Cheol-jung, and Mo-tak’s police assistant, originally male, was rewritten as female and portrayed in a romantic relationship with him. The concept of Yung's world also underwent significant changes, with Yung characters displaying more negative aspects than in the original.
What is Yung?
Yung is one of the core settings in this story, akin to the afterlife where the souls of the deceased reside. The dead retain their earthly appearance and memories and live a second life as inhabitants of Yung. Daily life in Yung is not much different from the mortal world; all languages are universally understood, and murder is impossible. While many residents atone for their sins from their mortal life, evildoers also exist in Yung.
What is a Counter?
A Counter is a human granted special abilities through a contract with a Yung inhabitant, tasked with capturing evil spirits that have escaped from Yung. To become a Counter, a person in a comatose state must enter into a contract with a Watcher from Yung."
