​The story is set in South Korea, now struggling with slum-like conditions due to a severe economic crisis. After being released from prison, Jun-seok reunites with his friends Jang-ho and Ki-hoon to plot a daring heist. Their target is an illegal gambling den, where they aim to steal US dollars as a ticket to a fresh start and a better life.​

​Time to Hunt was invited to the Berlinale Special Gala section of the 2020 Berlin International Film Festival. During a press conference, a male reporter asked, "Why aren't there any female characters besides the mothers in the film?" Director Yoon Sung-hyun responded, "I wanted to include a female character and a love story, but the movie was already long enough, and I wanted to focus more on the main characters."​
