​Na-mi loses her smartphone on a bus ride home from work, and it falls into the hands of Jun-young, a serial killer who hacks into her phone to monitor, manipulate, and target her for his crimes. Meanwhile, police officer Ji-man steps in to help Na-mi track down the perpetrator.​

​"You might mistake Unlocked for a comedy or romance based on its title, but it is actually a crime thriller. The film explores the dangers of digital crimes that can arise from losing a smartphone. Compared to the original novel, where the protagonist's boyfriend drops an iPhone, the movie changes the smartphone model to a Samsung Galaxy S20 FE. In the opening scene, the rear camera flash is shown turned on, which was achieved by compositing the flash of another smartphone onto the rear camera module."​
