​In 2092, with Earth devastated, humanity constructs a new space settlement called UTS. The spaceship Victory survives by collecting space debris. The crew stumbles upon Dorothy, a humanoid robot rumored to be a weapon of mass destruction. Desperate for money, the crew of Victory devises a risky plan to exchange Dorothy for a substantial reward, setting off a series of perilous events.​

​At the beginning of Space Sweepers, there is a hwatu (Korean card game) scene designed as a parody of the famous Korean movie Tazza. In this scene, each member of the Victory's crew showcases a unique way of handling the cards: Eopdong, played by Yoo Hae-jin, cheats by bottom dealing, while Kim Tae-ho switches cards with one hand. The line, "You can't lose in a game like this," recreates the Tazza atmosphere, and Eopdong's constant humming mirrors the mannerisms of Go Gwang-ryeol from Tazza. Captain Jang makes it unmistakably clear that this is a parody by marking the cards and saying, “Next time, let’s play another round.”​
