The protagonist, driven by an intense survival instinct, witnesses a mysterious creature triggering a series of events. ​Set in Gyeongseong in March 1945, towards the end of the Japanese colonial period and five months before Korea's liberation, the drama takes place during the final stages of the Pacific War. The main settings are the bustling downtown area of Gyeongseong and Ongseong Hospital. The meticulous reproduction of Gyeongseong in 1945, the splendor of Geumokdang Pawn Shop, and the massive laboratory at Ongseong Hospital are praised for their high visual perfection, as they are so detailed that it’s hard to tell whether they are real or not.​
